Create Personal Dashboards

Personal dashboards are available through different workflows depending on the role assigned to your user profile. This modernized topic keeps both role paths on one page and makes the distinction much clearer.

Save For All Roles

Use this path when the role option for Dashboards and Dashparts is set to Save For All Roles.

Save Personal Only

Use this path when the role option is set to Save Personal Only and the role is restricted to personal dashboards.

Where to check the setting

Confirm the role configuration in Settings > Security > Roles before you start. That one setting determines which workflow applies.

Choose the workflow that matches your role

  1. Open Dashboards in the Navigation pane.
  2. Select Dashboard if no dashboards exist, or open a dashboard from My Dashboards, Personal, or All Dashboards.
  3. Click Edit Mode.
  4. Click New Dashboard.
  5. Enter the dashboard name.
  6. Select Personal Dashboard.
  7. Click Create.
  8. Add existing dashparts from the Dashpart Library, or create a new dashpart during the setup flow.
  9. Move or resize the dashparts as needed.
  10. Click Save.
  11. If you want to review your personal dashboards in list view later, use Options and set View Options to My Personal Dashboards.

Key differences

  • Only the Save For All Roles path includes the explicit Personal Dashboard option in the create dialog.
  • The Save Personal Only path relies more directly on the underlying security model for what the user can save and edit.
  • In both cases, personal dashboards appear in the relevant personal area of the navigation or dashboard options view.
Optional reminder: device and language behavior
  • These steps do not apply when Vantagepoint is used on a tablet or smart phone.
  • When you create a dashboard in a specific language, that language is retained for the dashboard even if you later log in using a different language.
